Returning to Monto Race Club for the Sunwater Fashions on the Field was a heartwarming experience. As my birthplace, Monto holds a special place in my heart, and I was honored to be part of this prestigious event as a fashion judge. Monto Race Club was a celebration of Country Racing & Fashions.
With 12 categories, the fashion stakes were high, culminating in the Best of the Burnett Regional Fashions for both Ladies and Gents. The level of style, sophistication, and millinery craftsmanship was truly inspiring, proving once again that country racing fashion is second to none.
Despite the 27-degree heat and 90% humidity, the day was spectacular, with blue skies enhancing the vibrancy of each outfit. I eagerly await the stunning images captured by Susie McLaughlan Photography—a true master of her craft.
I extend my gratitude to my fellow judges, Chloe Leather & Richard Pressland, and to the Monto Race Club committee for their exceptional hospitality. One of the most striking aspects of country race days is the community spirit—where respect, courtesy, and a shared love for the event shine through. Even the smallest details, like patrons returning their empties and keeping the grounds clean, reflect the genuine pride of the people here.
It was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful day. Monto, you have once again left a lasting impression, and I look forward to returning in the future.
Cheers Sandy
